RAIN REIGNS

Makin' Hay in Mason 2

“Singin’ in the rain.

We’re happy again.

In the early morning rain.

And nowhere to go.

Raindrops keep falling on our heads.

‘Cause, Baby, the rain must fall.”

Nearly 800 songs exist about rain.

Rain changes perspective.

Forget praying for peace in the Middle East.

Pray for rain!

Talk about an attitude adjustment.

That’ll solve everything.

Rain.

We saw it.

Sometimes we get it.

We live to tell the tale.

To tell how much fell.

How it broke the dry spell.

Thundered too.

Some got two inches.

Others three-and-a-half.

Others as much as six.

And with it, a leaky roof.

Doesn’t matter.

Rain’s rain.

Don’t go away.

Please come again.

Another day.

Soon.

Please.

When it comes, it soaks the soil.

Drenches the earth.

Revives the trees.

And thou and thee.

So now what?

River’s up.

Roads rutted.

Pasture’s cut and baled.

Tanks holding.

Leaves falling.

Puncher fans cheering.

Flags flying.

People smiling.

Deer rutting.

Squirrels squirreling.

Moon waning.

Witches flying.

Spooks spooking.

Soon, rain.

Someday.
