YOU NAME IT!

Renee Buster 001

AROUND THE SQUARE

What’s in a name?

Funny you should ask.

Just about everything.

One’s history.

One’s ancestry.

One’s creativity.

Or madness.

Harry Butt (a British cricketer).

Copper Penny.

Cherry Wood.

Two people I personally knew.

Or naming with a sense of humor:

Muddy Waters.

Rip Torn.

Chubby Checkers.

Perhaps nobility reigns.

Von this.

Van that.

Or “de” something or other.

Perhaps named for one’s trade.

Cooper.

Potter.

Farmer.

Miller.

Brewer.

Weaver.

Even funnier is what’s in a nickname.

Pinky.

Shorty.

Peanut.

Fish.

Tiny.

Red.

Chili.

Boss.

Anyway.

Animal names can be just as fun.

And endearing.

Poppy.

Olive.

Buster.

Lucy.

Kiko.

Big.

Biscuit.

Uncle Terry (a cat).

Pete, the horse.

Rudy.

Rooster.

Daisy.

Elvis.

Emma.

Boca.

Sissy.

Frida (after Frida Kahlo).

And, of course…

Old Yeller.

That’s Mason.
