Monday.

The world gears up.

Somewhat.

School is still out.

Summer rules.

Sleep late.

Dillydally.

Eat ice cream every day.

Go swimming.

Go fishing.

Go shopping.

Go visiting.

Stay up late.

Stay with Oma, Nana, Mimi, Granny, Baba, Memaw, Gram.

Read.

And read some more.

Watch movies.

Watch the little ones.

Play with the dog.

Ride horses.

Camp.

Hike.

Write.

Color.

Paint.

Draw.

Dawdle.

Summertime.

The living is easy.

For some.

Others work.

And work.

Construction all day.

Help brother-in-law remodel all night.

Sand plant all day.

Remodel all night.

Nurse at night.

Twelve-hours shifts.

Four days on.

Three off.

A 48-hour work week is nothing around here.

Work all day.

Sometimes two jobs.

And somehow raise children simultaneously.

Before, during, and after.

Work all day.

Work cattle after.

Feed and fix fences.

Plow, disc, seed.

 And pray for rain.

(And rain it did.)

That’s Mason.
